Llandudno 15 v Pwllheli 17

The Goats winning run was brought to an end at Maesdu Road by the visitors, but
on reflection they should have won it having built up a strong half time lead
of ten points. They had the better share of this first half, and created a
number of try scoring opportunities, but failed short just short of the Pwll
try line to touch down. It was after they had put Pwll defence under some
pressure, that they were awarded a penalty try after a Pwll player had illegally
used his hand to intercept a try scoring pass, and just before the half time
whistle that won a penalty in front of the posts which Ryan Pike converted,
giving them a ten points to nil lead which they justly deserved. The start of
the second period of play saw Pwll come out of the starting blocks with more
purpose, and it was from the restart they John Pugh touch down for a try which
Osian Jones converted. The match now was in the balance as to who would win it,
and it was Pwll that took the lead for the first time with a Matthew Parry try
with Osian Jones adding two more points from the conversion, and also adding
three more points with a penalty conversion. The match now was for the Goats to
win with very little time left to play, and this they did when they took play
from within there own half right up to the Pwll try line which was crossed by
Lewis Jones for a unconverted try. They continued to press for the match
winning points, and were awarded a number of penalties which they were unable to
convert, which would have given them a notable home win. Match Report by Howie.
Next Saturday away to Caernarfon 2.30 KO.
